Mr. Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, Mayor of Buenos Aires, visited Stockholm on 4th and 5th April.
He was received by the President of the Stockholm’s City Council, Eva-Louise Erlandsson Slorach, and had a working lunch with the Mayor Karin Wanngård.
The Buenos Aires delegation met with the Vice-Mayors Katarina Luhr (Enviroment División), Åsa Lindhagen (Social Affairs) and Ann-Margarethe Livh (Housing and Democracy). They discussed several topics, such as sustainable urban development, gender equality, social integration and strategies to promote investment and tourism.
Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and the delegation also met Åsa Regnér, former Swedish Ministry of Gender Equality and recently appointed Deputy Director of UN Women. They discussed initiatives on gender equality and prevention of gender violence, as well as the Swedish experience on parental leave and care of the elderly.
Mr. Rodríguez Larreta was joined by the Buenos Aires’s Council members Roy Cortina, Natalia Fidel, Maximiliano Ferraro y Victoria Roldán.
During a meeting with Argentine citizens living in Sweden, Mr. Rodríguez Larreta and Astrid Söderbergh Widding, President of Stockholm University, signed the agreement “Study BA”, aimed at promoting student exchange between Stockholm University and Buenos Aires.
