NETWORK OF ARGENTINE RESEARCHERS AND SCIENTISTS
The Programme RAICES aims to strengthen the scientific and technological capabilities of our country by the means of developing networking policies with Argentine researchers and scientists living abroad, as well as by giving incentives to Argentine scientists for them to stay in the country and for the return of those willing and interested in pursuing their professional carreers in Argentina. This programme was declared "state policy" by Act numer 26.421 of the National Congress.
The programme intends to increase the exchange of knowledge between Argentine scientists living abroad and the scientific community in Argentina; promotes cooperation and exchange schemes with top-end scientific centres; boosts cooperation programmes as well as the build-up of human resources; and at the same time it strangthens the scientific and technological capabilities of our country.
Among the achievements made under Programme RAICES, it is worth mentioning: around one thousand Argentine scientists and researchers welcomed back in Argentina; more than 170 return requests channeled; 95 science and technology research projects approved; more than 4.900 researchers registered with the programme's data base; more than 220 visits to our country by top-noch Argentine researchers living abroad; funding provided for 39 networks; more than 300 international projects assessed; 30 RAICES prizes awarded.
